According to a senior official, the aviation regulator DGCA has sought information from Nepali authorities regarding the incident in which an Air India and Nepal Airlines aircraft came within striking distance of a mid-air collision.

A Nepal Airlines plane flying into Kathmandu from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and an Air India plane flying into Kathmandu from New Delhi nearly collided on Friday morning.

According to authorities on Sunday, the pilots were notified by warning systems, and their prompt action prevented the disaster.

On Sunday, a senior DGCA official stated that information regarding the airprox incident is being gathered from Nepali authorities.

The incident has been reported to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) by Air India.

Indian pilots are not under the jurisdiction of Nepali authorities. The official added that the Air India crew involved in the incident was being removed from the roster pending additional information.

The Common Flying Power of Nepal (CAAN) has composed a letter to DGCA to direct an examination concerning the matter. According to CAAN spokesperson Jagannath Niroula, Nepal’s watchdog has also requested that the Indian regulator inform it and take the necessary action against the culprits.

CAAN has suspended three air traffic controllers for “carelessness” during duty hours in connection with the incident.

Air India didn’t say anything about the incident.
