When he was accidentally run over by a snow plough on New Year’s Day, Hollywood actor Jeremy Renner said he broke more than 30 bones.

The Avengers actor shared a picture of himself lying in a hospital bed and gave an update on his recovery, stating that his “morning workouts, resolutions all changed this particular new years.”

While shoveling snow outside his Nevada home, Renner sustained blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries.

He was listed as critical for days.

The actor, who turned 52 a week after the accident, is best known for his role as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, a superhero who wields a bow and arrow.

He said on Instagram that the incident had changed from a “tragedy for my entire family” to “uniting actionable love.”

He wrote, thanking everyone for their “messages and thoughtfulness,” “These 30 plus broken bones will mend, grow stronger, just like the love and bond with family and friends deepens.”

Renner has received support from numerous celebrities, including his Marvel co-stars Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans.

The accident occurred following a New Year’s storm that struck the United States, causing dozens of deaths and widespread snowfall in several states.

Renner helped a family member who was driving his car and had become stuck in the snow near his house by using his own snowplow.

According to Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam at the time, Renner successfully towed the vehicle free, but when he got out, the plough began to move even though it was empty.

According to Mr. Balaam, Renner was struck by the “extremely large” piece of equipment while attempting to regain control of the vehicle.

A few days later, Renner shared a picture of his severely battered face, stating that he was “too messed up now to type” but expressing gratitude to supporters for their “kind words.”
