According to a Euromonitor report, Sony Group is expected to sell approximately 2.11 million Alpha series mirrorless cameras worldwide in 2022. One hundred thousand of these were sold in China, with the remaining ones going elsewhere.
According to Nikkei Asia, this indicated that production had moved to Thailand from China.
The supply chains were disrupted as a result of China’s zero-COVID policy, and the manufacturing industry has been working for some time to address the issue of heavily relying on Chinese production.
Canon relocated a portion of its camera production from China to Japan in 2022. Daikin Industries also wanted to establish a supply chain by fiscal 2023 that would make it possible to produce air conditioners without using components made in China.
